Integrated Portable Microfluidic Electrophoresis System with Electrochemical Detection for Fast Analysis of Alimentary Oils

This paper reports a methodology for fast analysis of two important antioxidants: tyrosol and oleuropein in real samples of alimentary oils by using a ready-to-use portable microfluidic system (MicruX ® iHVStat) based on microchips electrophoresis with electrochemical detection. The portable system integrates for the first time a high voltage power supply and a bipotentiostat for using microfluidic electrophoresis chips with electrochemical detection. The instrument is completed with a chip holder for housing the microchips and makes easier their use. The adapted methodology enables the separation and detection of antioxidants in virgin olive oil and sun flower oil in less than 50s.
